Mold! What now? What next? What do you do when you have a mold situation? I’ve mentioned it many times before, identify the sources of where you have mold.
Whether it is coming from outside sprinklers, poor drainage, lack of rain gutter, potted plants outside, cracks in your exterior, penetration in your stucco, or you have leak internally; such as you water heater or your supply line, excess water is going to create mold growth.
Moisture mapping is going to tell you if you have a problem with mold because if you have elevated moisture above 20% which is going to support mold growth.
We want to get it down to at least a 16% so it can get a passing grade or a clearance from a third party such as an Indoor Environmental Professional.
However, if the mold is in a small area like a couple of feet, you can do source containment. Which will cut it out, not making much dust and then it gets bagged.
